APPI Asks PSSI To Immediately Issue Competition Postponement Decree
JAKARTA - Acting Secretary General of PSSI Yunus Nusi said the Indonesian Professional Footballers Association (APPI) requested that PSSI immediately issue a Decree (SK) to postpone the Indonesian League 1 and League 2 competitions.
This was conveyed by APPI, represented by Ponaryo Astaman as General Manager during a meeting with PSSI at the PSSI Office, Jakarta, Tuesday. According to Yunus, APPI provided input so that when the SK comes out it can accommodate the interests of the players.
"Today PSSI and APPI held a meeting to discuss various things. Such as communication and discussion regarding the issuance of a Decree (SK) to postpone the competition, ”said Yunus Nusi on the PSSI official website as quoted by Antara, Wednesday.
Until now, PSSI has not made a decision to postpone the competition. The decree is important to issue immediately because it relates to player contracts and club rights and obligations to players and coaches during the postponement of the competition.
Previously, PSSI also issued a decree at the beginning of postponing the competition last April. The decree number SKEP / 48 / III / 2020 stipulates that each club can pay players' salaries of 25 percent of the contract during the period from May to June.
A similar decree is also expected to be issued soon following the decision to postpone the league until next year.
"APPI provides suggestions and input on how if the decree comes out it can accommodate the interests of the players. Later we will report this to the Head of PSSI (Mochamad Iriawan) and all members of the Executive Committee (Exco) to become a reference before making a decision through a decree, "he said.
Previously, PSSI planned to continue the League 1 and 2 competition in October. However, the competition was decided to be postponed because PSSI and PT LIB did not have a permit from the police.
If it is still as planned, Liga 1 Indonesia 2020/2021 will start from February to July 2021. This means that the competition will clash with the U-20 World Cup which will be held on May 20-June 11, if it is still on schedule.
