Citayam Fashion Week

Young people who gather with various fashion styles on the sidewalks of Dukuh Atas, Jakarta are suddenly popular. The young people from Citayam to Bojonggede who packed the Sudirman area went viral on social media.

The young people with distinctive fashion styles, the majority of whom are ordinary people from the buffer city of DKI Jakarta, not only hang out but also catwalking like models at the zebra crossing of Dukuh Atas, so that the term "Citayam Fashion Week" appears.

At first, it reaped a variety of scorn but later it turned out to be positive. DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan even invited European Union finance officials to tour the Dukuh Atas area while crossing the viral zebra crossing. Not wanting to be left behind, the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, also came all the way from Bandung. It became more viral after model Paula Verhouven joined the catwalking. The wife of celebrity Baim Wong makes the zebra crossing in Dukuh Atas like a real catwalk stage.

President Jokowi also commented. The President considers the actions of the teenagers of Sudirman, Citayam, Bojonggede, Depok (SCBD) should not be banned because it is a form of creativity. Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno compared the action of Citayam Fashion Week to Harajuku in Japan.

That's right, the creativity of young people in any form should not be prohibited. Moreover, they prove, to be stylish, you don't need expensive items from famous brands. An opportunity to popularize local products at affordable prices. Even the actions of Bonge, Jeje Slebew, and their friends indirectly had an economic impact. Street vendors such as fried street vendors and coffee shoppers also enjoy. Their turnover increased tenfold.

Apart from all forms of creativity, it should be remembered that the SCBD teenagers' actions were carried out in public areas. Zebra cross actually is to cross the road, regulated in the Act. Not a fashion show arena. Dukuh Atas Station is also a public area. Where residents of Jabodetabek (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi) descend from various directions. Not to mention the action of the street fashion show made traffic jams. Motorbike parked on the side of the road. In fact, on weekends the action is carried out until late at night. Illustrated in various media, how some of the children involved in the Citayam Fashion Week event slept on the streets because they were tired and couldn't go home because the schedule for the Sudirman-Citayam KRL train had closed.

This needs serious attention. DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan may not prohibit it, but what Deputy Governor Riza Patria said is worth considering. It is necessary to think about a special free place that does not disturb the people passing by. No traffic jams and crowds.

But the chosen place must be close to public transportation access, not disturbing the traffic of residents or vehicles. The suggestion of the Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Riza Patria, to move to the Monas or Sarinah area can be considered.

Of course, if the DKI Provincial Government officials also have to think, that Dukuh Atas was chosen as the place for Bonge, Jeje Slebew, and friends to take action, it could be because of easy access. Close to public transportation. There, fried food and coffee traders can easily trade. With only IDR 5,000, these young people can drink coffee while eating fried foods for IDR 2,000. If you later move and the location is far from access to public transportation and for coffee and snacks, you have to spend up to tens or hundreds of thousands of money, it will be difficult to get them to move.

It must be remembered, that the average child involved in Citayam Fashion Week is not from the rich. They are mostly young people, from ordinary circles who want to express themselves.

The term Citayam Fashion Week itself has been registered with the Directorate General of Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights by a company owned by celebrities Baim Wong and Paula Verhoeven. Do not let this demonstration of creativity which was originally free become commercialized and expensive, only people with money can enjoy.
