Meeting With Anies, European Investment Bank Says Ready To Invest Rp15 Trillion For Projects In Jakarta

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan held a meeting with European Investment Bank Vice President Kris Peeters European Union Ambassador HE Vincent Piket at MRT Jakarta Business Space on Tuesday, June 19 yesterday.

During the meeting, Kris Peeters stated that the European Investment Bank (EIB) is ready to disburse investment funds of 1 billion euros or equivalent to Rp. 15 trillion for development projects in Jakarta.

The development projects in question include sustainable development, projects that support emission reductions, to renewable energy projects.

"EIB has special attention to urbanmobility and urban regeneration projects so that projects owned by MRT Jakarta are very relevant to be financed by EIB," said Kris in his statement, Wednesday, July 20.

The investment offer value of Rp15 trillion is the largest value ever committed by the EIB for an area outside the European Union. Kris hopes that Anies can accept the investment offer.

“We hope to do many things together because the values that the governor conveys regarding development are also very important for EIB. We are very happy to be working with Governor Anies," he said.

Meanwhile, Anies explained that Kris' arrival to Jakarta was a follow-up meeting to discuss investment in public transportation development in Jakarta.

The previous meeting took place two months ago. Where, Anies together with the ranks of PT MRT Jakarta visited the EIB office in Luxembourg. In this follow-up meeting, Anies said that his party also discussed the financing plan for the next phase of the MRT Jakarta.

"We had a meeting regarding the financing plan for the next phases of the MRT Jakarta and after that we tried to take the MRT Jakarta and saw the Kendal Tunnel, which was previously a place for car traffic and is now a pedestrian access area," said Anies.

In addition to holding a meeting regarding the project, yesterday Anies also invited the Vice President of the European Investment Bank Kris Peeters and his staff, as well as the European Union Ambassador HE Vincent Piket to enjoy the atmosphere around Dukuh Atas Park, Kendal Tunnel, try the catwalk which is being loved by teenagers "SCBD" in Upper Hamlet.

"On the sidelines of the visit, we had time to try the catwalk styled by SCBD friends in Dukuh Atas. In conclusion: none of us are as cool as them, we don't deserve to go on the catwalk. Next time we will be spectators and admirers," said Anies in his Instagram account aniesbaswedan on Tuesday, 19 July.
