BMKG: The Impact Of Cycloneic Circulation Extends To The 10 Provinces In Sumatra

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said that the cycloneic circulation in the Indian Ocean west of Sumatra had caused light to heavy rains that extended to all 10 provinces on the island of Sumatra.

"Light to heavy rain accompanied by strong winds, and thunderstorms still occur in North Sumatra. It is predicted for the next 3 days," said Forecaster on Duty, Center for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BBMKG) Region I-Medan, Utami Al Khairiyah in Medan. , reported by Antara, Monday, November 9.

He revealed that the 10 provinces on Indonesia's third largest island include Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Riau Islands, Bengkulu, Jambi, South Sumatra, Bangka Belitung and Lampung today.

Meanwhile, on Monday, November 9, there are nine provinces, namely Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Riau Islands, Bengkulu, Jambi, South Sumatra, and Bangka Belitung.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, November 10, areas with the potential to rain with lightning and strong winds occurred in seven provinces, including Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Bengkulu, Jambi and South Sumatra.

This weather condition is due to the cyclonic circulation that was observed in the western Indian Ocean region of Aceh, the western Indian Ocean, West Sumatra, and eastern Jambi.

The impact is a meeting or slowing of wind speed in the atmosphere that extends in the Karimata Strait from southern Sumatra, Jambi, southern Riau, the waters of the Mentawai Islands (West Sumatra), western Lampung to the western Indian Ocean of Bengkulu.

"There is weather disturbance in the form of eddy circulation (cyclonic circulation) in the western Indian Ocean region of Sumatra, resulting in wind bends in the region of North Sumatra (northern Sumatra), especially which triggers the growth of rain clouds," said Utami.

BMKG Medan issued an early weather warning in North Sumatra, that it was raining with moderate to heavy intensity that could be accompanied by lightning and strong winds today at 20:45 WIB in Langkat, Deli Serdang, Karo, Simalungun, Siantar, Samosir, Toba, and North Tapanuli.

Then Asahan, Labuhan Batu Utara, Humbang Hasudutan, Dairi, Pakpak Bharat, South Tapanuli, South Labuhan Batu, Mandailing Natal, Padang Sidempuan, Padang Lawas Utara, Tapanuli Tengah, Sibolga, Padang Lawas, and Labuhanbatu.

"This condition can extend to Medan, Tanjung Balai, Serdang Bedagai, Coal, Tebing Tinggi, Binjai, and surrounding areas. It is estimated that it will continue until 23.45 WIB," said BMKG Medan chiefs.
