PBSI Evaluates 3 Important Things After The Southeast Asia Tour
JAKARTA - Head of the Development and Achievement Division of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) Rionny Mainaky evaluated the athletes' performances after this month's Southeast Asia tour.
Indonesia brought home six titles from three consecutive month tournaments. The three tournaments are the Malaysia Open, Malaysia Masters and Singapore Open.
Despite taking many titles, the national badminton parent still provides several records. There are at least three important notes that must be corrected.
"I think that what they have to improve more is how they have to quickly adapt to the pattern and way of playing in windy and unstable field conditions," said Rionny.
"Before competing, we must be ready to apply the strategies and games that will be applied, confident without a doubt. In addition, with three consecutive tournaments like this, we must be consistent in maintaining each other's conditions. Both athletes, coaches and support teams," he added.
The five titles that Indonesia brought home started from the women's doubles at the Malaysia Open. At that time, Apriyani Rahayu / Siti Fadia Silva who came out as champions.
Indonesia then added two titles at the Malaysia Masters a week later. In the tournament, it was Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto and Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo's turn to take the highest podium.
Indonesia's dominance continued to the Singapore Open last week. Three representatives managed to come out as champions of the four representatives who penetrated the final.
In this Super 500 event, Apri/Fadia again showed their fangs in women's doubles. Then Anthony Sinisuka Ginting successfully ended the drought of titles since the 2020 Indonesia Masters and Leo Rolly Carnando managed to get the first World Tour title in their career.
Rionny hopes that the achievements of his foster children can be a valuable asset ahead of the 2022 World Championships which will be held next August in Tokyo, Japan.
"I hope this performance is maintained or if it can improve. Their achievements are a good asset ahead of the World Championships later," said Rionny
In addition to getting six titles, Indonesia also got four runners-up. "I am satisfied (with the athletes' achievements) because the medal tally has increased," said Rionny.
"I am also happy because the coach can maintain the condition and spirit of the athletes so that they can all-out give their best from the first to the last tournament in Singapore," continued Rionny.
