Banyuwangi Scorpion Exports To South Korea Were Thwarted By Customs Officials At Soetta Airport

JAKARTA - Soekarno Hatta (Soetta) Customs and Excise succeeded in thwarting the smuggling of scorpion exports to South Korea (South Korea) through Soekarno Hatta Airport (Soetta). It is known, that the scorpion comes from Banyuwangi which will be sent via the general export route on Friday, July 1 last.

"We received information about the shipment of live scorpions to South Korea. Based on this information, the Soekarno Hatta Customs Enforcement team conducted an inspection and succeeded in thwarting the smuggling of live animal exports in the form of a 5-kilogram scorpion through general exports", said Head of Customs Enforcement and Investigation, Soetta Zaky Firmansyah, based on a release received, Tuesday, July 5.

During the inspection, Zaky continued, the export contained 100 live animal scorpions, 82 alive and 18 dead, packaged in clear plastic and paralon pipes without the relevant agency permit in the form of a SATS-LN (CITES) permit.

The export goods were then carried out prevention and have been handed over to the Animal Quarantine of Soekarno Hatta Airport to be followed up by applicable regulations.
