Dubai Government Prepares To Move To Metaverse

JAKARTA – Recently, Dubai is rumored to be moving its government to the digital world. This is Dubai's first step in responding to the evolving metaverse.

Dubai aims to make the metaverse an important part of the future development process. Sharad Agarwal, chief metaverse officer of Cybergear, a Dubai-based metaverse company, spoke about this process at a local metaverse-themed event.

“We have started getting a lot of inquiries from government departments and ministries to get them to support Metaverse. It is only a matter of time before Dubai becomes the center of the world's crypto and Metaverse," said Agarwal.

Switching to the metaverse is not as easy as turning the palm of the hand. Agarwal emphasized that the construction of government areas and the determination of their functions would take time.

“There is hard work involved, so you need to decide what services you want to offer and the business model and then the onboard community is like there is in the physical world,” adds Agarwal.

Reporting from Bitcoin.com, Dubai has been one of the countries that have implemented a global plan to make the metaverse a lucrative industry in the future.

To realize the plan, the Dubai government established the Dubai Metaverse Strategy, a group of directives aimed at making the metaverse contribute 1% to the country's GDP for 2030, aiming to provide 42,000 virtual jobs by the same year.

Other countries such as South Korea are also investing heavily to develop their own metaverse industries, allocating $177 million for domestic metaverse development.

“Dubai has a huge real estate market. In the future, people will be able to fly like superman into society, look around villas and also configure interior decorations according to their wishes. Once satisfied, they can pay digitally,” said Agarwal.
