BMKG Asks Coastal Communities Of Riau Islands To Beware Of Robt Floods
BATAM - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Hang Nadim Batam asked coastal communities in the Riau Islands region to be aware of the phenomenon of coastal flooding (rob) which is predicted to occur from 11 to 19 July.
"Due to tidal activity, and high rainfall can affect coastal flooding," said BMKG Hang Nadim Batam weather forecaster Riska Meilan Manurung from a statement released by BMKG Hang Nadim Batam, Monday, July 4.
Several areas are predicted to be affected by tidal flooding in the Riau Islands region, namely, Batam City such as the Coastal District of Batu Aji, Sekupang, Nongsa and its surroundings, then Tanjung Pinang City such as the Coastal District of Tanjung Pinang City, West Tanjungpinang, Bukit Bestari and its surroundings.
Then Bintan Regency such as, Coastal District of North Bintan, Teluk Sebong, East Bintan and its surroundings, Karimun Regency such as Coastal District of Meral, Pamak Village and its surroundings.
Next is Lingga Regency, such as in the Coastal District of Singkep Barat, Singkep Pesisir, and Senayang, Anambas Regency such as in the Coastal District of Siantan, East Siantan and Natuna Regency such as in the Coastal District of East Bunguran, the coast of Pulau Laut and its surroundings.
"As a result of this phenomenon, it can have an impact on the disruption of transportation around ports and coasts, community activities, and loading and unloading activities at ports," he said.
