Spending IDR 3.88 Trillion, Astra Returns To Banking Business Through Subsidiaries: Takes Over 49.56 Percent Of Bank Jasa Jakarta's Shares

JAKARTA - PT Astra International Tbk (ASII) has re-entered the banking world after previously releasing all of its shares in PT Bank Permata Tbk (BNLI). This time, through the takeover of PT Bank Jasa Jakarta.

Astra Corporate Secretary Gita Tiffani Boer said that the takeover of Bank Jasa Jakarta shares was carried out by Astra's subsidiary, PT Sedaya Multi Investama. Based on the shares subscription agreement (SSA), Sedaya Investama took 1.14 million shares of Bank Jasa Jakarta.

"Equivalent to 49.56 percent of the total issued and paid-up capital of Bank Jasa Jakarta," said Gita in an information disclosure to the Indonesia Stock Exchange, Monday, July 4.

Gita said the transaction value reached IDR 3.88 trillion. The transaction is subject to the fulfillment of all preliminary requirements in the SSA.

"Including the approval of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) related to the transaction plan," said Gita.

Gita also explained that the purpose of the planned transaction was to be part of Sedaya Investama's business development and investment.

On the other hand, Gita said that one of the shareholders of Bank Jasa Jakarta, namely Welab Sky Limited, would increase its ownership. This plan is also subject to obtaining OJK approval.

That way, both Sedaya Investasi and Welab Sky will later own 49.56 percent of Bank Jasa Jakarta's shares.
