Admits Mistakes, Holywings Is Sanctioned By DKI Provincial Government Reprimand Due To Muhammad-Maria Free Alcohol Promo

JAKARTA - The DKI Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Disparekraf) has imposed sanctions on the management of Holywings Indonesia for opening a free alcohol promo for people named Muhammad and Maria.

Head of the Supervision and Control Section of the DKI Jakarta Disparekraf, Iffan, said that the sanctions imposed were administrative in nature at the initial level, namely a written warning.

"We have given the first written warning to the management of Holywings yesterday," Iffan said when contacted, Friday, June 24.

Iffan said that the sanction was imposed because the Holywings promo was considered contrary to religious norms. Given, in Islamic law, there is a prohibition against drinking alcohol.

"Management must have an obligation to maintain norms, be it religion, must maintain morals, as well as obligations regarding other things, especially this is related to SARA," said Iffan.

If the central management of Holywings commits another violation, Iffan said that his party will again apply advanced level sanctions, ranging from a second written warning, a third written warning, suspension of temporary permits, to revocation of business licenses.

"Regarding the virality of our upload (Holywings Indonesia) regarding promotions using the names Muhammad and Maria. We have followed up on the promotion team who made the promotion without the knowledge of Hollywings Indonesia management, with very severe sanctions," wrote Holywings' statement.

Holywing conveyed that the promo that was known to the public so that it resulted in a polemic was made not at all starting with the intention of offending religion.

"It was not our intention to link religious elements as part of our promotion, therefore we apologize profusely to all Indonesian people," he continued.
