Developing Non-traditional Markets, The Ministry Of Trade Increases Exports To Poland
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Trade will continue to cooperate with all Indonesian representatives in Eastern European and Central European countries, including Poland. The cooperation aims to increase trade, especially the exports of the two countries.
This was conveyed by Deputy Minister of Trade Jerry Sambuaga when meeting the Indonesian Ambassador to Poland Siti Nugraha Mauludiah at the Ministry of Trade office, Jakarta, Thursday, January 16.
"The Ministry of Trade is very interested in increasing exports to non-traditional countries. Poland, a member of the European Union, is a non-traditional market with great potential to be developed for Indonesian exports, "explained the Vice Minister of Trade.
The population of Poland is recorded at around 35 million people with an economic growth of 4-5 percent. With the growing number of middle class people, it will further increase Poland's potential as a non-traditional market for Indonesia.
Some of the Indonesian products that are in demand in Poland include instant noodles, coffee candy, batik, furniture, coffee and palm oil. The Vice Minister of Trade said that currently, the trade value between Indonesia and Poland was recorded at US $ 600 million.
Apart from direct trade between the two countries, Indonesian products entered Poland through Germany, Hungary and other Western European countries. "By increasing direct trade, later Indonesian products will be more competitive in the Polish market," he explained.
In this meeting, the Vice Minister of Trade also invited the Indonesian Ambassador to Poland to carry out a positive campaign for palm oil in Europe. In addition, the Ministry of Trade's plans to participate in the World Coffee Expo Warsaw 2020 were also discussed to increase Indonesia's coffee exports.
