Political Parties Supporting The Government Busy Explore Coalition, PPP: KIB Will Still Talk To Jokowi And Ma'ruf Amin
JAKARTA - Political parties are starting to get busy exploring political 'matchmaking' to build a coalition to welcome the 2024 General Election. Starting from Golkar, PAN and PPP which formed the United Indonesia Coalition.
PKS and PKB which initiated the Red Ant Coalition. Even PKB also cooperated with Gerindra to form the Greater Indonesia Awakening Coalition.
The majority of these parties are political parties that support the government. So, have the political parties competing to form a coalition already "prepared" to leave President Joko Widodo, considering that in the upcoming 2024 presidential election they will no longer be able to nominate themselves?
In response to this, PPP Deputy Chairperson Arsul Sani said that his party would still communicate with President Joko Widodo and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin to determine the future political configuration. Because according to him, the United Indonesia Coalition is here to continue the programs run by the Jokowi-Ma'ruf government.
"I think as a political reality, all those who determine our national political configuration will definitely be discussed. Of course the current government, Pak Jokowi, Pak Kiai Ma'ruf Amin as vice president, of course KIB will also listen," said Arsul at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, June 20.
Although, he continued, the political parties in KIB have their own autonomy. "However, KIB as a political party also has its own autonomy," he continued.
Moreover, said Arsul, KIB doesn't want to rush to talk about the 2024 presidential election, especially regarding the figure because it is currently focusing on creating a platform. Especially, regarding the sustainability of development programs, especially national strategic projects.
Currently, said Arsul, KIB is identifying potential pairs of candidates who deserve to be carried in the upcoming presidential election. However, duets have emerged from other political parties or coalitions. For example, PKB and Gerindra have signaled their support for the Prabowo-Muhaimin pair.
"KIB is currently on a istikharah to identify who (candidates), especially from internal KIB, yes, who deserves to be nominated and run for vice president," said Arsul.
Arsul also said that the parties in the United Indonesia Coalition always met and communicated after the last declaration. In fact, there will be a public discussion so that the development of the coalition is known to the public.
"The KIB meets often, it's just that the media don't know about it. But we have agreed to regularly hold public discussions so that what is progress, what we are talking about can also be known by the wider community," he said.
