Brimob Killed In OTK Attack In Napua, Papuan Police Examine AKP R

PAPUA - The Papuan Police said that they had investigated AKP R, the Commander of the Wamena Brimob Company D, regarding the case of the attack on an unknown person (OTK) that led to the death of Brigadier Diego Rumaropen. The incident also resulted in the confiscation of two organic Polri firearms.

Head of the Propam Division of the Papuan Police, Kombes Police, Gustav Urbinas, said the examination was to determine whether or not there was abuse of authority by AKP R as Danki D Brimob in Wamena.

In addition, said Urbinas, the Papuan Police also checked Brigadier R, who served as the driver.

The former Jayapura City Police Chief revealed that the Papua Police Propam and Jayawijaya Police Propam would also examine six members of Brimob.

The examination of the six Brimob members was related to the process of using weapons and ammunition. Currently, firearms and ammunition are being inventoried at Kompi D Brimob Wamena.

Bullets When asked about the missing ammunition, Urbinas admitted that the two firearms taken by the armed criminal group (KKB) were AK101 and contained blanks and rubber bullets, while SSG08 (sniper) contained one bullet.

From the provisional information, it was revealed that the SSG08 type firearm initially contained three bullets but two had been used to shoot cows.

"Currently, the investigation continues to be developed to determine what kind of violation occurred, whether in the form of a violation of the code of ethics or disciplinary regulations of the Police, while general crimes are handled by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the Papua Police," said Urbinas in Jayapura, quoted by Antara, Monday, June 20.

The incident of the death of a member of the Papua Police Mobile Brigade and the disappearance of two firearms occurred on Saturday, June 18, at around 17.00 WIT in Napua District, Jayawijaya Regency.

Two organic police firearms that were taken away by the perpetrators were AK101 and SSG08.

The incident began when AKP R was asked by residents to shoot his cow in Napua.

AKP R together with Brigadier Diego Rumaropen then went to the TKP. After shooting the cow -- but before heading to the location where the cow was shot -- AKP R entrusted the firearm that was brought to the victim Bripda Diego Rumaropen.

A few moments later a group of residents came and attacked the victim until Diego died. The group of people then seized the two firearms.
