A Week Before MXGP, PLN: Electricity Preparation Reaches 90 Percent
JAKARTA - One more week, to be precise on June 24, 2022, the international standard Motocross Grand Prix (MXGP) of Indonesia Samota Sumbawa will take place in Samota. PLN's readiness to electrify the grand event has reached 90 percent, both in terms of the network and power plant backups.
Several works are being carried out in stages to complete the readiness of PLN, namely the readiness of the backup infrastructure for electricity supply and also the network in the venue.
General Manager of PLN Main Unit for West Nusa Tenggara (UIW NTB), Sudjarwo said that to meet the MXGP electricity needs, PLN built 2 distribution lines of Medium Voltage Network (JTM) each 0.5 (kilometers) km long, Low Voltage Network (JTR) ) along 1 km and some equipment to serve customers from a voltage of 20 kilo Volts (kV). This requirement is in accordance with the results of an initial survey conducted by PLN last January, where the implementation of this event will require a power of 1.38 Mega Volts. Ampere (MVA).
“Current condition, the network has finished building. PLN's commitment to electrify all events, both national and international, which will be held in NTB. We will prepare the infrastructure, both in terms of generation, transmission, and distribution," said Djarwo in an official statement, Saturday, June 18.
Djarwo also explained that his party has made a work plan by considering all aspects and risks, so that electricity to Samota can be supplied according to the time and power required by the organizers.
"We make sure everything goes according to schedule. Until now, the realization of work in the field is still in accordance with the timeline we made. In the next two weeks, the electricity infrastructure is expected to be completed," Djarwo hoped.
For reliable electricity supply during the event, PLN has prepared six units of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) with a total capacity of 760 kilo Volt Ampere (kVA), eight Mobile Substations (UGB) with a total capacity of 1,700 kVA and five generators with a capacity of 1,600 kVA imported. from Taliwang and Mataram. Most of this equipment is already onsite, and several others are being prepared in stages.

On the network side, PLN has also carried out equipment maintenance at the Sumbawa Substation (GI) and Labuhan Substation as well as rehabilitation of the network that will supply MXGP electricity intensively. For personnel needs, PLN has prepared 327 personnel who are currently ready in Sumbawa, who will be on standby in 10 scattered locations.
“Points that require electricity are spread over a very wide location. We will devote all resources to make this event a success. If needed, additional personnel will be brought in from outside, "said Djarwo.
Djarwo also emphasized the importance of collaboration and cooperation from stakeholders to make MXGP a success. Starting from the planning process, development to the implementation of the event, of course, the participation of stakeholders and also the community, especially in NTB.
“PLN will of course really need support from all parties. We ask for prayers and support from the entire community and also stakeholders so that this international event can be successful," concluded Djarwo.
