BPBD OKU South Sumatra Admits Lack Of Equipment For Natural Disaster Management

BATURAJA - Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, South Sumatra, Amzar Kristopa admitted that his party lacked natural disaster management equipment such as rubber boats to evacuate flood victims. " said Amzar in Baturaja, the capital city of Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency, Wednesday, June 15. He explained, in a flood disaster, rubber boats are vital equipment for evacuating disaster victims, which is currently very minimal. The OKU BPBD only has six units each, two rubber boats, folding boats and fiber boats. However, he said, only four of the six boats are functioning properly. "Only folding boats and fiber boats are functioning properly. The rubber boat is in a damaged condition," he explained, quoted by Antara.

With the condition of the existing equipment, it is still very lacking to cope with natural disasters that occur in the local area. "Especially if natural disasters occur in more than one location," he said. According to Amzar, so far his party has submitted a budget for the addition of the evacuation boat units. "However, until now our proposal has not been realized," he said.
