Somad Ojek Online Disaster In Pelembang, Wants To Sip Sumiati's Coffee Even Explosion Of Gas Cylinder
PALEMBANG - Ilir Barat 1 Police Officers in Palembang, South Sumatra, evacuated two victims of a 3-kilogram gas cylinder explosion from a kiosk in the Padang Market area Tuesday, Bukit Lama Village, Tuesday, June 14.
The Head of Ilir Barat 1 Palembang Police, Kompol Roy Tambunan, said the two victims of the explosion were Somad (36) and Sumiati (36). They were evacuated to the hospital due to burns on their hands and face.
"The victim survived. Our personnel took him to the Bunda Noni Hospital which is not far from the scene this morning," Roy said in Palembang as quoted by Antara.
Witnesses at the scene explained that the explosion occurred when the victim Somad ordered coffee from Sumiati, who was a waitress at the food stall.
Somad's coffee order, who works as an online motorcycle taxi driver, could not be made by Sumiati.
"According to the witness, Sumiati said that at that time the gas ran out and she could not attach the LPG gas cylinder to the stove regulator to cook coffee water," he added.
Hearing this, Somad took the initiative to help install gas cylinders; then suddenly the tube exploded and immediately released flames that grabbed the two victims.
"When he (Somad) was attaching it to the regulator, suddenly the tube exploded, releasing a fire which also burned part of the stall," explained Roy.
He added that the sound of the fire explosion was strong enough to attract the attention of local residents and police officers who were on duty around Pasar Padang on Tuesday.
Residents and the police were able to extinguish the fire by using water spray and light fire extinguishers (APAR). The fire was successfully extinguished and the victim who was trapped in a stall measuring 2x2 meters billowing with smoke was rescued.
"So, from the results of the investigation of the crime scene and collecting witness statements, it is currently believed that the fire explosion came from the LPG gas cylinder," he said.
