Reisa: International Events Are Proof That Indonesia Is Facing The COVID-19 Pandemic
JAKARTA - Government Spokesperson for COVID-19, Reisa Broto Asmoro said, holding various international events in the country is proof to the world that Indonesia is strong in facing the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We can prove to the world that we can organize international-scale events with health protocols that have been agreed with WHO. So, this is a positive signal that proves that COVID-19 in Indonesia is under control so far," said Reisa in a Health Broadcast that was followed online in Jakarta, Antara, Monday, June 7.
Reisa said the condition of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia was much more controlled and stable. This can be seen from a number of indicators for handling the pandemic, namely the rate of positive cases and reduced hospital occupancy and a positivity rate of less than five percent.
The increasing vaccination coverage has also made the government impose a number of policy relaxations that have allowed various activities that invite large numbers of people to be allowed.
Examples of international scale activities that have taken place in Indonesia include the Indonesia G20 2022 Presidency, the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR) which took place on 23-38 May 2022 and the Formula E championship last Saturday.
According to Reisa, the holding of many international events in the country was carried out in accordance with the guidelines for dealing with COVID-19 and the discipline of health protocols that the organizers continued to apply during the event.
One of the regulations firmly adhered to in the G20 Presidency is the Circular Letter of the Task Force (Satgas) for Handling COVID-19 Number 6 of 2022 concerning the Bubble System Health Protocol in a series of activities at the G20 meeting in Indonesia during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
"To mitigate risk when preventing transmission or if someone is exposed to COVID-19, the key is implementing good health protocols. So, everything can run safely," he said.
He added that the holding of various events on an international scale could be realized thanks to the support of the community. The strength of Indonesia's health protocols is able to prove Indonesia's resilience or adaptability to the pandemic, thereby gaining trust as the host in the eyes of the world.
Reisa also appreciated all related parties for being able to make Indonesia proud with good cooperation. He hopes that Indonesia can recover soon, so that all levels of society can carry out activities as usual in good health.
"This is thanks to the cooperation of all parties from the central, regional government and all community support who have implemented health protocols as well as vaccinations well. Hopefully we can both continue to keep Indonesia's conditions starting to improve and are really ready to enter the endemic phase," said Reisa.
