Apple's AR/VR Headset Will Present Original Content From A Hollywood Director

JAKARTA - Apple has reportedly asked Hollywood directors such as Jon Favreau to create video content for its long-rumored mixed reality headset. Favreau himself is famous for his films Mandalorian and Iron Man.

According to The New York Times, Favreau will produce an original series for Apple TV+, Prehistoric Planet, which users can enjoy with Apple's Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) headsets.

With the help of Favreau and other Hollywood directors, Apple wanted to develop a compelling app for its headset, helping it stand apart from the offered VR and AR competitors like Facebook Meta and Microsoft.

VR headsets (or VR glasses) are designed to place the wearer in a digital world, where they can interact with virtual objects and each other's avatars.

Meanwhile, AR devices don't go that far with VR, instead, they put digital objects into the real world. The device is seen by some as the gateway to the next great computing revolution, the virtual world called the metaverse.

Citing CNET, Monday, June 6, unfortunately, the source who spoke to the media said that Apple is currently facing ongoing challenges with battery power, which means that the headset will not appear until next year.

Even though many hope that Apple will showcase the AR/VR headset at the WWDC 2022 event tonight which can be watched on Apple's official YouTube channel.

However, at the show the company also plans to announce new software that will allow developers to add an additional camera and sound features to their apps, thereby creating a framework for experiences that users can navigate without a visual interface.

This means that this also confirms the latest report from Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman about the headset that is predicted to arrive next year due to overheating problems. The headset is claimed to feature a design reminiscent of a pair of ski goggles.
