Ridwan Kamil Ensures Vaccination Simulation In Depok City Is Held This Week

BANDUNG - West Java (Jabar) Governor Ridwan Kamil said his party would hold a simulation of COVID-19 vaccination in Depok City this week.

This simulation of vaccine injection is a preparation for the entry of the first stage vaccine that is purchased by the central government from three vaccine manufacturers, namely Sinovac Biotech, Sinopharm, and CanSino Biological.

The plan is that as many as 9.1 million Indonesians can be vaccinated in November to December 2020. Currently, a team from the Ministry of Religion, MUI, and BPOM is checking the safety and halalness of vaccines from the three producers.

"This week we have a plan to simulate the preparation of vaccine injection in Depok City, possibly Thursday (22/10), as a response to the preparation for the first batch of vaccines for the Republic of Indonesia," Ridwan Kamil said as quoted from the West Java Provincial Government's statement, Tuesday, October 20.

Ridwan Kamil, who is familiarly called Kang Emil, said West Java has proposed an allocation that is prioritized for high epidemiological areas, namely Bodebek (Bogor-Depok-Bekasi).

"So the readiness will be simulated because Bodebek only has 1,000 vaccine injectors who have been trained. We will simulate whether these 1,000 workers are sufficient or should be added," said Kang Emil.

In addition, the West Java Provincial Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) started training for 3,000 COVID-19 volunteers throughout Greater Bandung until November 9.

"This morning we conducted training for COVID-19 volunteers in Greater Bandung to strengthen the Adaptation of New Habits and prepare for additional volunteers for tracing," said Kang, Chair of the Committee on Policy for Handling COVID-19 and Regional Economic Recovery in West Java Province.

In addition to announcing the vaccination simulation plan in Depok City, Kang Emil explained that the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method testing carried out in West Java had met the standards of the World Health Organization (WHO), namely 1 percent of the total population.

Based on data from the West Java COVID-19 Coordination and Information Center (Pikobar) until Monday, 19 October at 18.00 WIB, there were 499,269 PCR tests in West Java. Referring to the West Java Province Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the total population of West Java as of 2019 is 49.3 million.

"This week West Java has met WHO standards. So our PCR test this week has reached 1 percent of the population near 50 million, in (approximately) 500 thousand PCR tests. We will continue to increase control efforts and increase testing capacity," he said. Kang Emil.

In addition, Kang Emil said, there are only two Red Zones (High Risk) in West Java based on data for the period 12-18 October 2020.

"There are only two Red Zones this week, namely Bekasi Regency and Cirebon City. Hopefully with the methods (countermeasures) that we continue to do, the Red Zone (in West Java) can be zero, "continued Kang Emil.

He explained that the recovery rate for COVID-19 in West Java had increased and as of October 17 it was at 66.32 percent. The death rate (case fatality rate) due to COVID-19 also continues to decline, as of October 17, 2020 it was at 1.86 percent or 1.61 percent lower than the national figure (3.47 percent).

"I think the two good news can be an indicator that what we are working on results in improved control, including the Effective Reproduction (Rt) number of COVID-19 in West Java at 1.04 (as of October 17, 2020)," said Kang Emil.
