Puan: One Year Of Jokowi-Ma'ruf Administration, Indonesia Faces Many Challenges
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Parliament, Puan Maharani, assessed that President Joko Widodo and Vice President KH Ma'ruf Amin faced many challenges in the first year of his administration.
Puan explained that the Jokowi-Ma'ruf administration had just carried out the vision and mission of the program that was delivered during the campaign period. But unexpectedly, Indonesia is facing the COVID-19 pandemic which has had a tremendous impact on all aspects of life.
"We see that during the one year administration of President Joko Widodo and Vice President KH Ma'ruf Amin, Indonesia faces many challenges," said Puan, in her statement, Tuesday, October 20.
"The COVID-19 pandemic also has implications for the health, social and economic sectors by weakening global economic growth," he said again.
He said the administration of President Joko Widodo-Vice President KH Ma'ruf Amin must try harder in the second term. Puan reminded the government to anticipate future challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic which could be even more severe.
"It takes more effort from the government, no one should think that the second period can run as usual," said Puan.
"What the government will do for the next five years can determine Indonesia's progress for the next fifty years," said the first woman who became Chair of the Indonesian Parliament.
Furthermore, Puan asked the government to be able to determine and prioritize sectors that are the main focus and how much impact it will have on Indonesia's health, social and economic growth in the future.
Community participation is also very important in mutual cooperation to realize a more prosperous and advanced Indonesia. Puan ensures that the DPR RI will carry out its supervisory, legislative and budgetary functions so that government policies can truly provide maximum benefits to the community.
"The government must have the courage to make breakthroughs in accordance with its priorities in this unusual condition so that the national economic recovery target is realized by always paying attention to the health and social impacts of the community," Puan concluded.
