Mayor Of Banjarmasin Hopes Restorative Justice Can Bring New Hope For Justice
BANJARMASIN - Mayor of Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, H Ibnu Sina expressed his pride in his city having a restorative justice house located at the South Banjarmasin District Office.
"The benefits of the presence of a restorative justice house can bring new hope for justice in the city of Banjarmasin," said Ibnu Sina, in Banjarmasin, Monday, May 31.
Ibnu, who accompanied the Head of the South Kalimantan High Prosecutor's Office, Mukri at the inauguration of the "Baiman" restorative justice house Monday morning, said that this was a step forward for efforts to provide legal justice for the community.
"It is extraordinary how enthusiastic the Attorney General is in conveying the various achievements and results that have been carried out in other cities in Indonesia," he said as quoted by Antara.
"There are those who steal because their children want to go to online school, are punished, there are those whose wives want to give birth were forced to steal and so on, now it turns out that they get justice and are released from all charges, meaning that their reputation is restored, and finally justice can be served," said Ibn.
He also felt happy because the existence of a restorative justice house raised the local wisdom of the Banjar community in its implementation.
"The UIN Antasari Professor, Mr. Ahmadi Hasan, was also intentionally presented, who in his 2007 dissertation wrote about 'The Custom of Peace in the Banjar Society'," he also said.
According to him, this dissertation is truly local wisdom that later found a place in the Indonesian legal system.

"Now things like that are then institutionalized in the form of a restorative justice house, extraordinary, this is wisdom which was later appointed as a judicial institution in Indonesia, this is a new hope in the justice system in Indonesia," he said again.
Ibnu said that in the future in Banjarmasin, similar houses would be built in all sub-districts.
He hopes that the existence of this place can be useful for the community and get support from related parties for the success of justice in Banjarmasin City and the success of the Banjarmasin City Government program.
"Hopefully it's useful and hopefully it's a blessing, I also ask for support from the chairman of the board for other restorative justice houses from the aspect of facilities, then the completeness, if necessary, build a good one, including the proposal for a rehabilitation center, yes, so this is input from the prosecutor's office regarding programs what is in the city government which is actually very useful, at least in 2023 it can be included in the Banjarmasin municipal government program," he also said.
