KKB Shoots Military Vehicles In Papua Star Mountains, 3 TNI Soldiers Wounded
JAYAPURA - Three members of the TNI reportedly suffered minor injuries after the vehicle in which they were traveling was shot by an armed criminal group (KKB) in Serambakom, Bintang Mountains District.
"It is true that the vehicle carrying logistics was shot at by KKB while heading to Oksibil from Serambakom to retrieve logistics," said Danrem 172 PWY Brigadier General Izak Pangemanan, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, October 20.
From reports received, military vehicles were fired upon from a distance of about 200 meters, causing three members to be injured.
The wounds of the three TNI soldiers were said to be light. They were handled by paramedics at the Oksibil Hospital.
"No one has been evacuated because the paramedics can handle it at Oksibil," said Pangemanan.
The members had retaliated, resulting in a firefight before the KKB fled to the forest, explained Brigadier General Izak Pangemanan.
Three members of the TNI who were injured, namely Praka Hendrik suffered a gunshot wound to the sole of his right leg, Prada Heldan was hit by a recoset in the leg and Prada Gusman was hit by a splint in the chest. Korem 172 PWY oversees 12 districts and cities from 29 regencies and cities in Papua.
