Snapchat's New Shared Stories Feature Lets More People Participate In Your Stories
JAKARTA - A few days ago Snapchat updated the Custom Stories feature with a new name, the Shared Stories feature. Custom Stories initially only allowed users to create Stories and add friends to view and contribute.
But now, Shared Stories allow their users (Snapchatters) to build a community of content they love on Snap. Shared Stories allow friends you add to add their own contacts.
"Now, with our new and improved Shared Stories, Snapchatters who have been added to groups can also add their friends, making it easier for an entire soccer team, camp team, or new group of coworkers to join in on the fun," Snap wrote in a statement. the announcement, quoted Monday, May 30.
Snap has built a secure Shared Stories feature by design. Like all Stories on Snapchat, Snaps sent to Shared Stories are deleted after 24 hours.
Then, unlike the usual Stories and Groups of friends, there is no chat component, nor does it save all conversations between friends.
Snap also said that they are modernizing content with great care, using a combination of automatic language detection and new community review tools that empower users to play an active role in keeping Snaps on Shared Stories safe and fun.
"We also notify Snapchatters if they join Shared Stories with someone they've blocked," the company continued.
This will give Snapchatters the opportunity to leave Shared Stories, and ensure Snapchatters always have full control over who they share content on the Snap platform.
Snap hopes to help its users turn shared moments into shared memories. Getting started with the Shared Stories feature is very easy. Here's how.
Open Snapchat. Go to the profile page. Tap a new story. Then select Shared Stories to get started.
