Beijing Eases COVID-19 Restrictions Starting Tomorrow

JAKARTA - Beijing authorities plan to relax COVID-19 restrictions in a number of low-risk areas in the Chinese capital on Sunday, May 29. so that people can return to normal life, according to local officials.

Fangshan and Shunyi districts could reimpose work-in-office policies, they said at a press conference.

Public transportation such as buses, taxis and subways in the three districts will resume operations and shopping centers in some areas will reopen.

However, local authorities will still suspend business activities such as tutoring, internet cafes and karaoke bars, the government said.

From April 22 to May 28, Beijing reported 1.716 cases of COVID-19.
