The Final Decision On Persija Jakarta's Foreign Players Is Not In The Hands Of Thomas Doll, But Management

JAKARTA - Persija Jakarta coach, Thomas Doll, said that he had received a recommendation from foreign players for Liga 1 2022/2023. In fact, he claimed to have communicated with some of them.

However, Thomas Doll said that the final decision regarding foreign players from the Kemayoran Tigers rests with the management of Persija Jakarta. The man from Germany hopes that Persija's management will immediately complete the recruitment of foreign players so that they can make more optimal preparations for the 2022-2023 Indonesian League 1.

"I hope foreign players can come sooner. Currently our team is still separated," said Doll after leading her players' training at Nirwana Park, Bojongsari, as reported by Antara.

"The U-23 and U-19 players still have the national team. So at this time we are only training with 15 players plus three goalkeepers," continued the 56-year-old coach, as quoted by Antara.

Thomas Doll then said that his team needed three foreign players who were good at filling the positions of centre-back, midfielder and attacker.

"We do need 'fresh blood' and good quality for the position of central defender, midfielder who may be like a number eight as well as attackers," said the former Borussia Dortmund coach.

Currently, Persija Jakarta has only confirmed one foreign player slot. Makan Konate is officially maintained by the management of the Kemayoran Tigers.

Persija Jakarta has ambitions to return to the top flight of the Indonesian League 1 after only occupying the eighth position in Liga 1 2021-2022. The presence of Thomas Doll is one of the management steps to further improve the quality of the team.
