Prevent Intruders At May Day Fiesta, Police Conduct Sharp Weapons And Firearms Inspections

JAKARTA - The police will investigate the crowd who attended the May Day Fiesta at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Senayan, Jakarta today, Saturday, May 14. Inspections are carried out to prevent groups of intruders.

Central Jakarta Police Chief Kombes Komarudin said the inspection was carried out at every entrance. There are eight doors that have been prepared to be accessible to the masses of workers who will take part in this May Day Fiesta.

"At the ring 2 gate, there are 8 entrances, doors A to H, we will carry out inspections, of course we hope that this will not be used by other groups who are not workers," said Komarudin in the GBK Senayan area, Saturday. , May 14.

He hopes that the activity, which is claimed to be attended by tens of thousands of people, will run smoothly. The police, continued Komarudin, will ensure that the masses do not carry sharp weapons, firearms, or fireworks later.

"We carry out inspections of our belongings or belongings such as weapons, rifles. Then also alcohol, including firecrackers, and so on," he said.

"This is prohibited, yes, this is for the sake of holding this activity running smoothly, we hope together so that internal activities are not disturbed," he continued.

The activities in the GBK area, said Komarudin, will start at around 11.00 WIB. Currently, a number of mobs are said to be on their way.

"If it is according to the 11 o'clock schedule, activities have started, while later there will be movements of some workers who are already on their way," he said.

Meanwhile, Director of Lantas Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yugo said there had been no traffic diversion. Moreover, since the beginning the police have appealed to residents not to cross the GBK or DPR areas.

"As of 8.30, there has been no diversion. We have appealed to Jakarta residents to avoid the GBK area and the area around the front of the DPR MPR so as not to get stuck in traffic jams," he said.

"Because starting this morning until noon and later in the afternoon and evening, it will be filled with masses of workers who will carry out the May Day Fiesta," he added.

Previously, Labor Party President Said Iqbal said there were two activities that the Labor Party and the Indonesian Labor Movement would carry out today. First, at around 10.00 WIB – 12.00 WIB, a demonstration was held at the DPR RI.

Second, at 13.00 WIB – 17.30 WIB in the form of May Day Fiesta at GBK. "This activity is a series of May Day commemorations. On May 1 we also held an action at the KPU which was followed by the May Day Fiesta at the Usmar Ismail Film Building," Said Iqbal said in a written statement.
