Exports Of 8 Containers Of Cooking Oil To Timor Leste Thwarted By The East Java Police And Customs
SURABAYA - A total of 162,642 liters or 121,975 tons of cooking oil in Surabaya were successfully thwarted by the Food Crime Investigation Unit of the National Police together with the East Java Regional Police and Customs and Excise.
The thousands of cartons of cooking oil were transported in eight containers for export to Timor Leste.
"The total amount of evidence is 162,642 liters or 121,975 tons. In rupiah, the value reaches IDR 3.7 billion", said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tanjung Perak Police, AKP Arief Ryzki Wicaksana in Surabaya, Thursday, May 12.
Arief said the thousands of cartons of cooking oil were planned to be exported to Timor Leste.
The cooking oil has been loaded in eight containers, consisting of three brands, namely Tropical, Tropical, and Linsea.
"In detail, there are 7,401 cartons of the Linsea brand, 2,833 the Tropical brand, and 44 cartons of the Tropical brand", he said.
As for the chronology, continued Arief, Tanjung Perak Surabaya Police officers received information on Thursday, April 28, 2022. Where there is a container loaded with cooking oil, it is about to be exported.

Then on May 4, said Arief, officers visited the location at the Meratus Depot on Tambak Langon Street Surabaya, to prove the information. The result is true, three containers containing cooking oil were found to be exported to Timor Leste.
"We then examined five other containers, which turned out to also contain cooking oil. Then the five witnesses who were examined said the cooking oil would be sent to Timor Leste", he said.
Arief said there were two suspects in the case, with the initials E acting as a document provider and R acting as a buyer who wanted to sell to Timor Leste.
For their actions, E and R are suspected of Article 52 Jo 112 of Law Number 7 of 2015 concerning Trade. Both of them also violated the Decree of the Minister of Trade No. 12 of 2022 concerning Goods that are prohibited from being sold, which carries a penalty of five years in prison.
