Explosive Visitors, TMII Implements Open Close System
JAKARTA – During the Lebaran holiday, almost all tourist areas are filled with visitors. The management of the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) in East Jakarta, even had to implement a temporary opening and closing system due to the booming number of tourists on Thursday, May 5 or D+2 Eid.
Observations at the location at around 13.30 WIB, the TMII management has closed the access to motorized vehicles at Gate 3 which is on Jalan Hankam Headquarters.
"Inside there is a density of waiting for what comes out and it will only be opened again for 30 minutes," said TMII Executive Director I Gusti Putu Ngurah Sedana in Jakarta, Thursday, May 5.
Meanwhile, traffic flow to TMII was also observed to be dense, creeping up to one kilometer on Jalan Hankam Headquarters. Private vehicles which are dominated by four wheels look snaking when entering TMII.
Sedana said that the temporary closure of access to TMII is not always 30 minutes, but considering the condition of the density of visitors. If the number has decreased, then the entrance will be re-opened.
TMII is currently also imposing a limit on the number of visitors to only 30 thousand. Not only that, TMII also only opens three entrances, namely through Door 2, Door 3, and Door 4. Meanwhile, Door 1 cannot be used because it is still under repair.
To Antara, Sedana explained that until now there were 15,878 tourists who came to visit TMII. "The number of visitors who entered TMII was 15,878 people as of 13.50 WIB," said Sedana.
