Pramudya/Yeremia Win The 2022 Asian Badminton Championships After Beating Malaysia's Representative
JAKARTA - Indonesian men's doubles Pramudya Kusuma Wardana/Yeremia Erich Rambitan successfully won the 2022 Asian Badminton Championships. This is their first title this year.
Pramudya/Yeremia locked the title after defeating Malaysian representatives Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik in the final which took place at Muntinlupa Sports Complex, Manila, Philippines, on Sunday, May 1, 2022.
Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik, who were bronze medalists at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics last year and seeded fifth in this event, had to accept defeat with a score of 21-23, 10-21.
Pramudya/Jeremiah immediately put pressure on their opponents at the beginning of the first game. They had equalized the score 4-4 after falling behind.
The Malaysian representative then returned to lead again after that. Pramudya/Jeremiah struggled to identify a score and then had to fall behind by four points at the interval.
After the break the Indonesian pair continued to try to catch up with them. The effort paid off and gave birth to an identical score to 18-18.
After that, the duel of the two couples was still running tight. The same position 19-19, 20-20, and 21-21 was created before Indonesia came out as the winner in the first game.
In the second game, Pramudya/Jeremiah immediately had the upper hand. They took a 7-2 lead and then managed to take a five-point lead at half-time.
Indonesia continues to spawn points to avoid the pursuit of their opponents. The gap in numbers even had time to widen to 19-9 before closing with a 21-10 victory.
The two couples had never faced each other before. Thus, this victory made Pramudya/Yeremia lead 1-0 win over the Malaysian representative.
Pramudya/Yeremia made a pretty sweet journey in the 2022 Asian Badminton Championships. Previously, they also defeated their seniors Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto in the semifinals.
