The Speaker Of The House Of Representatives Hopes Mount Kemukus To Become A Sragen Tourism Icon

JAKARTA - The chairman of the House Of Representatives (DPR), Puan Maharani, hopes that the new face of the Mount Kemukus area can become a new tourism icon for Sragen Regency as well as improve the economy of the people around the area.

"I am happy to be present in Sragen today in the inauguration of the arrangement for the Mount Kemukus area which, God willing, will become the new icon of Sragen Regency", said Puan in a written statement quoted by Antara, Wednesday, April 27.

According to Puan, one of the characteristics of a developed region is the ownership of tourist icons, such as DKI Jakarta has the National Monument, in Medan, there is the Maimun Palace, in Manado, there is Bunaken and various other areas that have their own tourism icons.

Puan inaugurated the arrangement of the Mount Kemukus area in Pendem Village, Sumberlawang District, Sragen Regency, Central Java, Wednesday. During the inauguration ceremony, Puan was accompanied by the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, Basuki Hadimuljono.

The Mount Kemukus tourist area has been managed by the Government since October 2020 and will be completed at the end of 2021.

According to Puan, the inauguration of the arrangement of the Mount Kemukus area before Lebaran 2022 is the right time because on Thursday, April 28 the community has entered a period of joint leave with Eid Al-Fitr 1443 Hijri.

She hopes that there will be an increase in the number of visitors to the Mount Kemukus tourist area this Eid season.

On the other hand, Puan also expressed her appreciation for the change in the face and image of the Mount Kemukus area.

She hopes that the new face of the Mount Kemukus area can encourage the revival of Sragen tourism and increase the economy of MSMEs in the area.

"I hope that in the future, if I go to Sragen, one of the goals is Mount Kemukus. So, I can change the image of Mount Kemukus which used to be a better image. It can bring blessings and benefits to the people of Sragen and its surroundings", said Puan.
