A Number Of Shophouses In Senen Burn Due To Chaos, Anies Provides Business Capital Loan Assistance

JAKARTA - A total of four kiosks in Senen, Central Jakarta were also burnt due to the burning of the Transjakarta bus stop during a demonstration against the Job Creation Law that took place yesterday, Thursday, October 8.

DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan this morning inspected the location of the kiosk, Transjakarta bus stops, to the Grand Theater Senen Cinema which was damaged due to a fire.

The merchandise at the four stalls were sold out in flames. At the location, Anies said that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government would help kiosk owners to be able to re-open their businesses by providing capital loans.

"The provincial government will summon all businessmen affected by the incident yesterday, who have bookkeeping and other businesses, we will help to get capital so they can return to their activities again," said Anies at the location, Friday, October 9.

Currently, a number of firefighters are still combing the remaining hot spots of the fire and cooling down to the shophouse next to the cinema which was also affected by the fire.

The DKI Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency has deployed 170 personnel and 33 fire engines to extinguish the fire since last night.

Apart from firefighters, around the location there are also officers from the Handling of Public Infrastructure and Facilities (PPSU) who clean the drains so that the water from the fire location is not clogged with materials left over from the action.

Anies admitted that his staff were still calculating the losses due to the burning at this location, while officers were carrying out a cooling process. "Hopefully, this afternoon the blackout process will be complete," he said.

Based on information conveyed by the DKI Jakarta Fire Service via Twitter account @humasjakfire, a fire broke out at the Transjakarta bus stop at 21.30 WIB. The flames got smaller, but then got bigger again around 23.00 WIB.

Until finally, the fire started to go out at around 04.00 WIB. As a result, the former Grand Theater Senen cinema building, four stalls to two vehicles of the Senen intersection of five construction workers also caught fire.
