Bank Indonesia In Bali Prepares Money Exchange Service For Homecomers At Gilimanuk Harbor

DENPASAR - The Bali Province Bank Indonesia Representative Office (KPwBI) together with several regional banks opened a mobile cash service near Gilimanuk Harbor, Jembrana Regency, starting today until April 28.

Apart from being near Gilimanuk Harbor, Bali, there are six mobile cash service locations in Bali for the cash needs of the community ahead of public holidays and ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1443 H.

"We are opening this service in seven different locations in several districts in Bali. We are also opening services at the Gilimanuk Harbor rest area from April 26 to 28", said Head of Bank Indonesia Representative for Bali Province, Trisno Nugroho, in Denpasar on Tuesday, April 26.

This mobile cash service was organized by Bank Indonesia together with 9 banks in response to the increasing demand for cash in the community ahead of public holidays and Eid al-Fitr.

The need for cash is expected to continue to increase towards the end of April or the last week of the month of Ramadan with a value of IDR 2.4 trillion.

According to Trisno, the increasing demand for money in the community was driven by three stimuli, namely the achievement of booster vaccinations throughout Bali, government policies for domestic and foreign travelers without rapid tests or PCR, and quarantine as well as increasing the number of flights at Ngurah Rai International Airport.

Bank Indonesia's mobile cash service with banks in Bali will last until April 28. The implementation of this mobile cash service will be able to serve 600 exchangers per day or 2,400 exchangers until the end of the implementation on April 28, 2022.

"In addition, we continue to encourage people to use digital transaction services and behave wisely according to their needs and take care of the rupiah to encourage awareness to love, be proud and understand the rupiah", he said.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor of Bali, Tjokorfa Oka Artha Ardana Sukawati or Cok Ace, explained that with the control of COVID-19 cases, there was an increase in the need for money fit for circulation and hygiene and money exchange services.

"I hope this activity can help the needs of the community in welcoming Eid and support the smooth running of economic activities in the midst of Bali's economic recovery", he said.
