Marquez's Career Prediction In MotoGP Only Lasts 5 More Years, Jorge Lorenzo: Injuring Yourself Repeatedly Is Not Good For Body Or Mind

JAKARTA - Former Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo said Marc Marquez would not last long in the MotoGP race. He believes Baby Alien can only have more or less time ahead.

Marquez, who is now 29 years old, is still competing on the most prestigious race track. Many people think that Marquez cannot return to the peak of his career due to injury problems and diplopia that bother him.

Even more than that, the racer who was born in Cervera, Spain, is predicted to retire early if he returns to the same problem. That was in line with what Lorenzo had in mind.

"He is a special rider, unique. Injuring yourself many times is not good for your body or mind. It slowly enters your head, and even age does not help," said Lorenzo, quoted by GP One, Wednesday.

"It's not the same to fall at the age of twenty or thirty. Marquez is technically a phenomenon. He has big ambitions, but time goes by for everyone. I think he has another five years of career," said Lorenzo, adding.

Marquez himself has just recovered from the third episode of diplopia due to an accident in Mandalika last March. Although this time the problem was not as serious as he experienced in the previous two episodes.

As a result of this problem, the six-time MotoGP world champion had to miss the Argentine Grand Prix which was held two weeks after Mandalika. He then just returned to racing again in the fourth series which took place in Austin, United States.

"We all know Marquez. He has an impressive mentality. Even if he falls a thousand times, he keeps taking risks and looking for his limit," said Lorenzo.

Marquez this season has not climbed one podium from the four races that have been held. His best achievement was finishing fifth in the opening race which took place in Qatar.

He also got unsatisfactory results when he returned to the race in Austin. He only finished in sixth place so that in total he only collected 21 points and sits in 13th position in the standings or 40 points adrift of Enea Bastianini who holds the top position.
