Quota For Indonesian Hajj Pilgrims 100,051 People

JAKARTA - Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas announced the quota for Indonesian pilgrims for the Hajj 1443 Hijri / 2022 AD as many as 100,051 people.

"Alhamdulillah, for all of our efforts and prayers, this year we will re-deploy Hajj pilgrims with a quota of 100,051 pilgrims and 1,901 officers," Yaqut said at the State Level Nuzulul Quran Commemoration 1443 Hijri, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, April 19.

Yaqut said the plan for the departure of the first batch will be on June 4, 2022. With this certainty, it will be a Ramadan gift for Indonesian pilgrims who have been waiting for two years.

In the last two years, Indonesia has not dispatched pilgrims due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The absence of departure adds to the long list of queues for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims.

Previously, the Chairman of Commission VIII of the DPR Yandri Susanto said the Hajj quota for Indonesia, which amounted to around 48 percent of the 2019 quota, was the highest quota from the Government of Saudi Arabia compared to other countries this year.

"It seems that Indonesia has the most quotas from all over the world. We should be grateful even though there is an age limit, but we can solve that by communicating well through the Regional Offices of the Ministry of Religion throughout Indonesia," he said.

Yandri said the total Hajj Travel Costs (BPIH) in 2022 reached IDR 81 million per person, while the agreed BPIH for each prospective hajj pilgrim was IDR 39.8 million, up from the average BPIH in 2020 of IDR 35 million per person.

However, Yandri ensured that prospective pilgrims who will depart this year or who experience a delay in leaving in 2020 will not be charged any additional fees at all.

"Although we have knocked down Rp. 39,800,000, the hajj pilgrims will not deposit an additional one rupiah fee. This is the commitment of the DPR and the government," he said.

Therefore, the fees charged to prospective pilgrims in Indonesia, according to Yandri, are the cheapest in the world.
