Buya Yahya Calls Ustaz Yusuf Mansyur Robbing Using Shame When Forcing Alms Congregation
JAKARTA - The polemic of Uztaz Yusuf Mansur's preaching style became a netizen chat after a video of Yusuf Mansur's anger went viral on social media. Many then brought up the style of da'wah alms to become rich which was popularized by the author of the book Looking for the Lost God.
Responding to the polemic, Buya Yahya commented on the excited lecture on the concept of giving alms from Ustaz Yusuf Mansur. The owner's full name, Yahya Zainul Ma'arif, considered Yusuf Mansur's concept of alms to be inappropriate because there was an element of coercion.
"Then 'if you are a man, who is like this and then you give your reward like this, give charity like this' is the prophet's way. Not pointing at 'you, give alms, yes. Your ring is good for sale, yes' there is no such thing. The Prophet did not teach that, "Buya Yahya said on the channel Islamic Nuances YouTube, quoted Monday, April 18th.
Prophet Muhammad, he continued, if he invited people to give alms, he gave an appeal not by coercion. "It makes people run away from goodness by pointing, asking. It's like robbing, robbing with shame. Robbing is using a sword with shame, if you don't give it, you are ashamed," added Buya Yahya.
Buya Yahya firmly judged what Ustaz Yusuf Mansur was doing by pointing and making the alms giver feel ashamed and forced to give.
"For example, we ask 'that's a good time for me' 'ouch'. It's the same as 'love it for me! Come on!' That's just because he has a makom an ustaz who uses it in the name of God, in the name of the prophet. That's the same, that's dangerous. How come the ustaz is asking for work," said Buya Yahya.
"If you give an appeal for alms (that's okay). It's still not allowed if we embarrass. Embarrassing was not taught by the Prophet SAW. Or making people run, this is a matter of alms. So look, we must teach sincerity to ourselves, sincere we teach others," he continued.
