Densus 88 Reveals 4 Stages Behind The Recruitment Of The NII Terrorist Network
JAKARTA - Densus 88 Anti-terror stated that the Indonesian Islamic State (NII) terrorist network implemented four stages in recruiting members. This stage is called casting.
"To join as a citizen or member of the NII, a person must go through 4 stages of recruitment which are called 'corroding'," said Head of Operations for Densus 88 Anti-terror Commissioner Aswin Siregar in his statement, Monday, April 18.
In these four stages, prospective NII members will gradually be given the NII version of religious understanding. Starting from Islamic values to how to worship.
"Gradually, each prospective citizen will be given materials and values related to memorizing the Sapta Subaya, understanding Islamic Shari'a and its worship, the history of the struggle of Muslims, ma'rifatul insan, siroh nabawi, and various Islamic values according to the NII version," he said.
Recruitment of the NII network is still being carried out. In fact, regardless of gender and age.
This means that both men and women can become members of the NII. In fact, based on an in-depth analysis, there are 117 minors who have joined the terrorist network.
As for members who want to become administrators, continued Aswin, they have to go through other stages. They must be sworn in to be loyal to the NII.
"Especially for those who will be appointed as administrators or officials, there is an addition, namely the bai'at of management," said Aswin.
Previously, the Indonesian Islamic State (NII) network in West Sumatra had thousands of members. Although, only some are active in the terrorist network.
"With 1.125 members, about 400 of them are active personnel," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan.

Meanwhile, the rest are non-active members. However, they have pledged allegiance to the NII. So, whenever needed, they can be activated for a specific purpose.
Based on the data, continued Ramadhan, thousands of NII members were divided into two regions, namely, Dharmasraya and Tanah Datar Regencies.
"Of the total number in West Sumatra, 833 people are spread across Dharmasraya Regency and 292 are in Tanah Datar Regency," he said.
