On Easter Day, Israeli Police And Palestinians Clash

JERUSALEM - Israeli police clashed with Palestinians at a holy site in Jerusalem's Old City during violence after dawn prayers on Friday April 15, police said. Israeli security is on high alert after a spate of deadly Arab attacks across the country over the past two weeks. Police visited the compound, which is considered the Temple Mount by Jews and considered a Holy Site by Muslims, to disperse the crowd. Palestinians began throwing stones at the Jewish worship hall at the Western Wall, police said they entered the compound to "disperse and repulse" the crowd. Reuters quoted the Palestinian Red Crescent Ambulance Service as saying 59 people were injured in the incident.
