Chaos! Mass Action Throws Stones At House of Representatives Building

JAKARTA - Student action in front of the Indonesian House of Representatives building was chaotic. The demonstrators pelted the Parliament Complex with stones.

The action lasted a few minutes. The House of Representatives leadership accepted the demands of the students at the gate.

When Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco, Rahmat Gobel, and Lodewijk F Paulus entered and the National Police Chief entered, suddenly the students banged on the House of Representatives gate and threw stones. The action was followed by the sound of firecrackers.

Whereas previously the demonstration was conducive. The security forces were on standby and issued a water canon.

Instead of stopping, the mass of action actually climbed the gates of the House of Representatives and threw more stones. Until there was a riot in front of the House of Representatives Building.

The officers then sprayed tear gas to disperse the crowd. The students were pushed back, some towards Palmerah and some towards TVRI.
