Student Demonstration In Padang Students Ask For The IKN Mega Project To Be Reassessed
PADANG - Hundreds of students from a number of universities in the province submitted their eight demands for action during a demonstration at the DPRD of West Sumatra (Sumbar) in Padang, Monday, April 11.
The head of the West Sumatra DPRD, Supardi, when meeting the participants of the demonstration, read out eight demands for action, namely first to ask President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to firmly reject the postponement of the election and the extension of the president's term of office to three terms.
The second demand stabilizes the prices of basic commodities which are very expensive today. Then demanded the government to lower the price of fuel oil so that there would be no gap between people.
Furthermore, he urged the government to postpone the construction of the State Capital (IKN) and examine the impact of moving the capital city.
He then asked the government to lower the value added tax, which is currently 11 percent and is causing a lot of suffering for the people. Then, rejecting the existence of a national strategic project because it ignores the rights of the people.
After that, he asked the central government to withdraw military personnel, both organic and non-organic and reject the new operational area in Papua.
Previously, hundreds of students came to the West Sumatra DPRD building, which had been installed with barbed wire outside the building's fence.
Students held an action to convey their aspirations one by one and asked for this wire to be moved so that they could enter and meet members of the West Sumatra DPRD.
There was an action of pulling barbed wire and students trampling on the wire so that it could be passed, but the officers tried to calm them down.
Finally, the head of the West Sumatra DPRD, Supardi, came to meet the protest participants and read out their demands and signed the demands.
