Police Arrest Dozens Of Teens Involved In Brawl After Sahur In Padang

PADANG - The Padang Police arrested a dozen teenagers suspected of being involved in a brawl in the city of Padang, West Sumatra, in the early hours of Sunday, April 10.

Padang Police Chief, Grand Commissioner Pol Imran Amir in Padang said the perpetrators were arrested by officers when officers carried out joint patrols in anticipation of public ills in the form of brawls in the city of Padang.

The dozens of teenagers who were arrested were AF (20), RA (15), RB (17), RR (16), DA (16), YT (16), EA (16), RP (28) AR (16) MS ( 15), RS (16) RP (20) and FSP (18).

"Some of them are still students, some are unemployed," he said, as quoted by Antara, Monday, April 11.

The officers secured a number of evidences in the form of a spear, three machetes, seven belts with iron heads, bracelets, rings, and necklaces, then three motorbikes, eight mobile phones.

The arrests of dozens of teenagers were carried out after Padang Police personnel held a joint patrol ceremony in anticipation of public ills in the form of brawls in Padang City.

Patrol activities are carried out in the early hours of the morning for perpetrators of street crimes or gangs of teenagers who have the potential to invite disturbances to Kamtibmas.

In addition, patrols are carried out in areas that are considered prone to illegal racing and brawls.

The officers were divided into two teams, led by the Head of Intelligence and Security, Padang Police, with the route to the South Padang area.

While the second team was led by Kasat Binmas Polresta Padang with the North Padang Area Route.

"We continue to strive to maintain Kamtibmas in the city of Padang so that people are safe and comfortable in carrying out fasting worship and there are no actions of community diseases that disturb residents," he said.
