Android 11 Brings Dark Mode To Google Maps

JAKARTA - Google Maps has spread the dark mode feature in several applications running on the Android 11 operating system. One of them is the Google Maps platform which now supports dark mode or dark mode options.

These changes are released gradually from the server side. Where previously the latest version 10.51.1 update Google Maps didn't quite run the dark theme option

According to a 9to5Google report, Thursday 1 October, the display settings in the Google Maps app will allow users to set dark theme options indefinitely or adjust the settings to the universal system theme currently being used on Android phones.

Once available, the dark mode feature can be selected from the new "Appearance" menu in Settings. There are three display options offered, namely the Light theme (light), Dark theme (dark), and Default.

This dark version will show the map's darkest background, while the roads will be shown in light gray. Meanwhile, text, pins and icons can still be seen clearly. Even with the dark version, text, pins, and icons are still lighter in color.

There is also a night mode setting automatically activated at sunset as the user navigates through the tunnel. However, these settings do not apply when the user is only browsing the map.

Keep in mind, this dark mode update has only been released by Google for a limited number of users. It is not yet known when Google started to spread this feature widely.
