The IMF Predicts Indonesia's Economy To Be In 4th Position In The World In 2045, Erick Thohir: This Must Be Real
JAKARTA - The International Monetary Fund (IMF) predicts that the Indonesian economy will continue to grow. In fact, it will be ranked fourth as the country with the largest economy in 2045. At that time, Indonesia was 100 years of independence.
Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir invites all parties to realize the IMF prediction. Erick doesn't want this prediction to be just a dream but must be realized.
"In 2045, Indonesia is predicted by the IMF to be a country with the 4th largest economy in the world. Of course this must be a reality, not just a dream. But we all must be able to ensure that instead of implementing our activities," he said at the 'Millennial Class Up Week' event.', Tuesday, April 5.
Moreover, the government also wants the demographic bonus to be a source for the nation's economic growth, not the other way around. Therefore, said Erick, the government will continue to encourage investor-friendly investments in creating many job opportunities for young people.
Furthermore, Erick said that as a nation, Indonesia must have dreams and hopes to become a country that has influence in terms of the economy in 2045. To achieve this goal, Indonesia must have its own roadmap and not depend on the roadmaps of other countries.
"Because if it's just a dream, it's in the air. But with this potential, we have to make sure how we make this new roadmap into a positive thing," he explained.
In addition, said Erick, the government's strategy must also slowly move towards a knowledge-based economy so that it is not always fixated on the natural resources (SDA) sector. According to him, in a knowledge-based economy, innovation and capability are the main keys.

Therefore, said Erick, his ministry continues to encourage the role of state-owned companies, one of which is by initiating a number of programs to support the improvement of the quality of the millennial generation. For example, continued Erick, starting from the Indonesia Digital Tribe Event, CSR for education, scholarship programs, internships, and working in State-owned Enterprise (BUMN).
"Through the knowledge-based economy, Indonesia must have competent and technologically literate human resources, so that the younger generation can encourage economic growth. We are opening the recruitment of 2.700 people in BUMN, the list has been 10 times than that," he explained.
According to Erick, siding with the younger generation in BUMN is an effort to build sustainable leadership. Through this step, Erick wants to ensure that young Indonesians are ready so that future opportunities are not filled by other countries.
