Escape From Cai Changpan, A Prisoner Sentenced To Death From Prison, Tower Officers And CCTV Monitors Overslept

JAKARTA - The police found elements of negligence behind the escape of Cai Changpan from the Class I Tangerang Correctional Institution (Lapas). From the results of the temporary investigation, it was found that several officers were asleep when Cai Changpan fled.

Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Yusri Yunus said that three officers were asleep. The three officers of the Tangerang Class I prison were examined intensively.

"Then we also studied the officers guarding the tower asleep at that time, guarding the CCTV as well, then keeping the flashlight on the lap asleep too," said Yusri to reporters, Wednesday, September 30.

By finding the element of negligence, continued Yursi, the joint team from the National Police and Lapas would dig up their statements. Because, there is another possibility about the officers' intentions when Cai Changpan escaped.

"We are still investigating whether anyone tried to help from the suspect," he said.

Yusri previously said that his party would investigate the alleged involvement of prison officials. Because there are several irregularities that were found when processing the crime scene (TKP). One of the reasons was that the officers did not immediately know about the escape.

"If we count there are three shifts (guards) there, the first one they should have checked directly, then the second is the same, then the third was caught and then the suspect fled," said Yusri.
