JAKARTA – Men's doubles special badminton player Muhammad Shohibul Fikri had his first experience of fasting abroad. He feels a little sad because he is far from his family

The Korea Open Championship will take place in Suncheon city on April 5-10. Fikri and his colleagues had arrived there after finishing performing at the Swiss Open.

"He feels quite sad because he is far from his family, can't break his fast together, and can't enjoy the atmosphere of the month of Ramadan in Indonesia. This is my first time fasting in another country," Fikri said in a statement received.

The atmosphere at the beginning of Ramadan in Korea is like an ordinary day. Unlike in Indonesia, in Korea, the atmosphere of Ramadan is not so pronounced.

Fikri said that besides that he had to buy food to prepare for suhoor before going to bed. However, he is fasting with pleasure because there are other teammates.

"But even so, I can still gather with the team here. Suhoor together and break the fast together. It cures the feeling of homesickness," said Fikri.

Fikri continued to fast even though the team continued to practice. He said that his fast would not be interrupted during the match if conditions allowed.

"My hope is that I will always be given health so that I can live the month of Ramadan well and smoothly. And hopefully, I can give my best in this match, I am grateful to be able to win," he said.

The Korea Open will be attended by 10 representatives from Indonesia. The details are three representatives of men's singles, five representatives of men's doubles, and two representatives of mixed doubles.
