Celebrating World Forest Day, GIS For Reclamation Of Ex-Mining Land In Tuban

TUBAN - PT Semen Indonesia Tbk or Semen Indonesia Group (SIG) announced that it has reclaimed its former mining area in Tuban into a lush forest area. At the same time, the company with the issuer code SMGR also handed over 999 tree seedlings to the Nusantara Nature Conservation Foundation (YKAN) as a company initiative to celebrate World Forest Day.

"Until February 2022, where in the last two months SIG has reclaimed an area of 329.30 hectares. We planted 496,058 trees on that land, including teak, johor, mahogany, sengon, flamboyant, kesambi, juwet to trembesi trees, "said SIG's Corporate Secretary, Vita Mahreyni, in an official statement, Thursday, March 24.

So far, according to Vita, his party has always adhered to the application of good mining practices and is in line with environmental conservation for a sustainable life.

According to Vita, the implementation of reclamation in ex-mining areas is carried out in a planned manner, starting from the pre-mining stage, throughout the stages of the mining business to organize, restore, and improve the quality of the environment and ecosystem so that they can function again according to their designation.

This seed distribution program, according to Vita, is in line with the commitment to prioritize sustainable development or Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in carrying out the company's operations. "For GIS, sustainability is the future that must be realized from now on," said Vita.
