Peter Gadiot Strengthens 'One Piece' Live Action Series Players
JAKARTA - Actor Peter Gadiot will play the character Shanks for the live-action One Piece series which is planned to be broadcast on Netflix. Based on the iconic Japanese manga of the same name, One Piece centers on Monkey D. Luffy, a young man who embarks on a journey to become the pirate king and find a famous treasure.
While the character Shanks or also known as Red-Haired Shanks is a legendary pirate and Luffy's childhood hero. Previously, the cast of One Piece characters was announced, including Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D Luffy, Mackenyu as Rorona Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, Taz Skylar as Sanji, and so on.
Quoted from Variety, Tuesday, March 29, Gadiot recently appeared in the drama series Yellowjackets (2021) playing Adam. Gadiot is also known for playing James Valdez in the USA Network series Queen of the South. Other TV project credits include "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland", Matador, and the miniseries Tut.

The live-action One Piece series is slated to air with 10 episodes on Netflix. Apart from being in the form of manga, One Piece has scored more than 1000 episodes of anime series to date along with 14 animated films.
In the live-action project, Steven Maeda and Matt Owens serve as co-writers, co-showrunners, and executive producers. In addition, Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements of Tomorrow Studios are also executive producers along with manga series writer Eiichiro Oda.
The live-action One Piece series is a co-production between Netflix and Tomorrow Studios, with Netflix handling the physical production.
