Karawang Fishermen Asked To Use Environmentally Friendly Fishing Equipment
KARAWANG - The Karawang Regency Fisheries Service asked fishermen to use environmentally friendly fishing gear so that fish resources and their habitats are maintained.
Acting Head of the local Fisheries Service, Abu Bukhori, said that fishing in the sea should not be arbitrary. There are conditions that must be met by fishermen.
According to him, catching fish that are not environmentally friendly include using stun equipment, toxic materials, explosives and other fishing gear that are not environmentally friendly.
"Fishing with tiger trawl nets is also not allowed, all of that must be understood by fishermen," he said, on the sidelines of socialization about fisheries supervision to the Supervisory Community Group and fishermen in Karawang, Antara, Thursday, March 24.
Abu said that the socialization was held to provide an understanding of his activities, so that they were in accordance with applicable legal provisions.
It also aims to prevent damage to fish resources and their habitats.
