Attorney General's Office Prioritizes Settlement Of Serious Human Rights Violations In 2022
JAKARTA - Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) the Attorney General's Office Febrie Adriansyah said that the resolution of gross human rights violations was a priority in 2022.
"Accelerate the settlement of cases of alleged gross human rights violations thoroughly and fairly, in accordance with applicable regulations," said Febrie during a hearing (RDP) with Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR) at the Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Wednesday, March 23.
However, he continued, the program requires financial support for the handling of cases by ad hoc investigators and public prosecutors, following the enactment of Law No. 11 of 2021 regarding amendments to Law No. 16 of 2004 concerning the Attorney General's Office of the Republic of Indonesia.
He revealed that the prosecutor's office is currently dealing with gross human rights violations in Paniai, Papua, which are in the stage of collecting evidence, and will continue to work to shed light on the case.

The Attorney General's Office formed a team to investigate allegations of gross human rights violations in Paniai, Papua, based on the Attorney General's Decree Number 267 of 2021 dated December 3, 2021, which was signed by Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin.
The consideration of the decision letter and the order from the Attorney General took into account the letter from the Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission Number 153/PM.03/0.1.0/IX/2021 dated 27 September 2021. The letter was related to the response to the return of case files to the results of the investigation of gross human rights violations in the Paniai incident 2014 in Papua to be completed.
