14.6 Million Residents Have Received The Third Dose Of The COVID-19 Vaccine

JAKARTA - The COVID-19 Handling Task Force said that 14,628,765 residents had received the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccination as of 12.00 western Indonesia time.

The number of vaccinations for the third dose (booster), was obtained after experiencing an increase of 27,984 people.

The second dose also increased by 107,698 people, bringing the total number of residents who received the second dose to 151,486,424 people.

Furthermore, as many as 193,474,037 people have received the first dose, after the addition of 73,543 people.

Until now, the government is still targeting 208,265,720 Indonesian citizens to get at least the full dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, so that group immunity can quickly form amidst the rise of new variants due to mutations.

Government Spokesperson for Handling COVID-19 Reisa Broto Asmoro urges the public to immediately vaccinate so that their immunity is maintained and avoid the worst risks of COVID-19.

According to her, in a pandemic situation like this, completing the number of vaccination doses, both second and booster doses, is very important because immunity in the body can decrease since the first injection is given.

Therefore, she asked the public to immediately go to the nearest health facility to immediately vaccinate so that vulnerable groups such as the elderly, comorbid sufferers and children who cannot be vaccinated can be protected.

"The immunity in our body is not forever, it doesn't mean that once an injection it lasts forever. So it must continue to be improved. Once the immunity goes down, it must be boosted so that it doesn't decrease and provides protection for ourselves," said Reisa, as quoted by Antara, Monday, March 14.
