Avoid Energy Crisis As Impact Of Russia-Ukraine Conflict, Expert Urges Indonesia To Immediately Convert Palm Oil Into Fuel
JAKARTA - Public Policy Expert, Achmad Nur Hidayat MPP, revealed that Indonesia must immediately reorient its energy security policy. This is the aftermath of the Ukraine conflict that could affect the world's and Indonesia's economic recovery.
Not only that, but this conflict has also affected world oil prices, which have recently started to spike sharply.
According to him, the use of fossil energy in Indonesia, which is already a net importer, must be overhauled. Not only that, Energy Independence must be realized immediately.
"Indonesia must immediately accelerate the conversion of its CPO palm oil into D100 (Diesel 100) and Gasoline 100", he said in a statement received by VOI, Monday, March 14.
He continued, cartels in the world of palm oil must be disentangled and then make palm oil conversion a priority for economic policy.
"Indonesia must be the first country in the world that can be independent of fossil energy within the next 1 year", he added.
Furthermore, he added, this is very possible because Indonesia is the world's largest producer of CPO palm oil in the world.
"Indonesia must act immediately, not waiting for the oil price to be at 200 US dollars per barrel", he said.

For this reason, he asked for cooperation from relevant ministries and institutions to cooperate and coordinate to accelerate the conversion of palm oil into fuel.
"The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of SOEs must coordinate to accelerate the conversion of palm oil into non-fossil fuels for domestic consumption so that Indonesia can survive the energy crisis soon", he said.
He also asked the government to focus on energy security policies.
"This is not the time for imaging, let alone asking for a postponement of the election and an extension of the office. Let's move!", he concluded.
